Mission The mission of ICLEPS is to conduct research in the area of human learning and performance with the goal of developing a general theory of human learning and performance and to apply that theory in a variety of settings, including K-12 education, higher education, business, industry, and government. The center has many unique aspects. ICLEPS is international in scope, encompassing work not only through the existing partnership between LSI and the Open University of the Netherlands, but also in developing countries such as India and southeast Asia. The center is also interdisciplinary, incorporating cognitive and educational psychology as well as instructional and information technology. ICLEPS is comprehensively studying human development from early school through workplace practice. The center’s research activity is empirically grounded, building on cognitive load theory, the progressive development of mental models, and simulation and modeling practices to support learning, instruction and performance.
